Khateeb-e-Millat (The Orator of the Nation) Allaamah Dr. Kaukab Noorani Okarvi is the son of Mujaddid-e-Maslak-e-Ahle-Sunnat Khateeb-e-A’zam-Pakistan Hazrat Allaamah Maulana Haafiz Muhammad Shafee Okarvi (Rahmatul Laahi ‘Alaieh).
He was born in the holy month of Muharram-ul-Haraam on 17 August 1957 at dawn Fajr prayers in Sultan Mansion opposite Bolton Market in Karachi. He belongs to the Shaiekh family of Yemen, who were traders and by the blessings of Hazrat Saiyyidinaa Aboo Bakr (Radiyal Laahu ‘Anhu) embraced Islaam. Some of his ancestors came to India for the purpose of trading and settled there; they were traders by occupation and Sufi by nature.
His birth name given at the occasion of his aqeeqah was “Ahmad”. In poetic verse, he has said his full name is: "Kaukab e Noorani Raa Ahmad Shafee’" (The beloved Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam) is the intercessor of Kaukab Noorani). He is a steadfast and firm Sunni Hanafi (Barelvi).

He spent his early childhood in Okara, Punjab. He received his early religious and worldly education from Ashraf-ul-Madaaris High School and Jaami’ah Hanafia-Ashraf-ul-Madaris. At the age of eleven, he memorized the Holy Qur’aan by heart (Hifz) from Maulana Qaari Muhammad Abdul Lateef Amjad Saeedi.
He studied religious courses (up to Hadees and Tafseer) from illustrious scholars, including:
He also received certificates and permissions for Hadees and Tafseer from renowned scholars of Madinah Munawwarah, Damascus, Baghdad, Turkey, and Delhi.
He took guidance in Urdu and Persian poetry and literature from personalities like Saiyyid Muhammad Qaa’im Afsar Allahbaadi, Janaab Iqtidaar Ahmad Akbar Hyderabaadi, Janaab Soofi Ghulaam Mustafaa Tabassum, and others. In the art of calligraphy, he received direction from Maulana Qaari Muhammad Tufaiel Amritsari and Haafiz Muhammad Yoosuf Sadeedee.
During student life, he won many prizes in debates, Qiraa’at, and Na’at competitions. He formed an organization called Bazm-e-Shaheen-e-Pakistan for students to promote education and help the needy.
In 1964, he took baie’at on the blessed hand of the Greatest Saint of his time (Ghaus-e-Zamaan), Treasure of Graciousness (Ganj-e-Karam) Hazrat Peer Saiyyid Muhammad Ismaaiel Shaah Bukhaari (Hazrat KarmanWaalay - Rahmatul Laahi ‘Alaiehi) in the Naqshbandi Spiritual Chain.

He has been given permission and successions in all chains of religious and spiritual ordinance from nineteen respected holy masters of Arabs and non-Arabs. His disciples are numerous and spread all over the world.
Established Orator, Writer & Organizational Leader
While in university, he intended to become a teacher, but his father wanted him to follow his footsteps. Since 1984, after the passing of his respected father, he formally started giving speeches and lectures regularly. He began the Imaamat and Friday sermons at Jaame Masjid Gulzaar-e-Habeeb (Soldier Bazaar, Karachi), which continues to this day.
He has appeared in fifty channels worldwide and in more than two thousand televised programs. He has given more than seven thousand speeches in public gatherings.
One of his revolutionary achievements is the Video CD title “Aakhir ikhtilaaf kyun” (Why the Differences?), which has proved beneficial for the correction of beliefs for millions.
In the wars of 1965 and 1971 between India and Pakistan, he participated with the Scouts and in Civil Defense. He worked shoulder to shoulder with his respected father in the Khatm-e-Nabuwwat Movement (1974) and the Nizaam-e-Mustafaa Movement (1977).
