The sacred Holy Qur’aan has commanded the love and adoration of the close relatives of the beloved Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam) on us. Moreover in several sayings of the beloved Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam) highly esteem attributes and qualities of the relatives of the Prophet has been specified. It is also evident the clear detail in the Holy Qur’aan of severe wrath for the one inflicting pain to the Prophet.
According to a sacred Hadees, Paradise will be forbidden on the person who will cause pain even to a single sacred hair of the Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam). This is evident for Aboo Lahab (Abdul Uzzaa) who was a relative and connected to the paternal uncle of the Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam) but a whole chapter is revealed of his condemnation for inflicting pain and verbally abusing the Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam) and he is used as the fuel of hell. The daughter of Aboo Lahab, Sabee’ah, became a companion by becoming a Muslim. Few amongst the companions of the Prophet called her “the daughter of the fuel of hell”, though referring to her in such a way by the companions of the Prophet (Allaah is well pleased with them) was not wrong but she disliked being sarcastically called this. She presented her complaint in the court of the beloved Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam). The Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam) became ardent and said in the gathering of the companions, “Who was the one who inflicted pain on me through my close relatives?” Take from this that even sarcastically referring to the paternal uncle’s daughter in such a way is a cause of distress to the Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam) then think how painful was the brutal murder of the beloved prince whom the Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam) called his own flower and whose crying in the lap of the affectionate mother was not tolerated by the Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam). That prince whom the beloved Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam) would place on his shoulders, who climbed on to the Lord of the Worlds during Salaat who would in turn would extend his prostration so that the prince did not fall off his back.
This is that prince whose maternal grandfather the beloved Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam) is the Chief of all the Prophets and the Messengers (سيد الأنبياء والمرسلين Saiyyidul Anmbiyaa Wal Mursaleen). Whose father is the Supporter of the Universe (Maulaa-e-Kaainaat) and the Chief of the Friends of Allaah (سيد الأولياء Saiyyidul -Auliyaa) ‘Alee Murtazaa (Allaah is well pleased with him) and whose mother is the Mother of all the Progeny of the Prophet (Ummus-Saadaat) and the Most respectful Lady of the Worlds (Makhdoomah-e-Kaa’inaat) Saiyyidah Faatimah Zahraa (Allaah is well pleased with her) سيدة نساء العالمين والجنة the Chief of the Women of all the Worlds and the Paradise. This Prince himself is the Chief of the Youth of Paradise. He is the companion of the Prophet, the manifestation of the courageousness of the Prophet, the Flower of the Prophet. Undoubtedly, his love is the love of Almighty Allaah and the beloved Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam). His anger is the anger of Almighty Allaah and the beloved Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam). It is the supplication of the Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam) for the one who possesses his love for (Saiyyidinaa Imaam) Husaien (Allaah is well pleased with him) that, ‘O Allaah, You may have love for him.’ In the sermon of every Friday every orator takes his name with reverence. Salaat is not performed if salutation is not sent on them. Think, how much agony it is to the Prophet with the viciously murder of this Prince?
The Pride of the Worlds, Saiyyidinaa Imaam Husaien (Allaah is well pleased with him) was the most prominent person of his era. In every way he was superior and exalted in wisdom, action, piety, devotion and lineage. He knew the Laws of Islaam and the Tradition of the Prophet (Sunnat) very well. No one has the chance to speak negatively of his character in anyway. Instead of accepting his un-comparable sacrifice, his greatness and rank of honour, some ill-fated use their words and minds to express their wicked thoughts. In addition to this these people conspire to call the one person who murdered the Honour and the Progeny of the Prophet, the demolisher of the respect of the Haram of Prophet, the one who ordered the stoning of the House of Allaah (Ka’batul-Laah), sinful, immoral, cruel, tyrannical, ill character Yazeed paleed عليه ما يستحقه Alaiehi maa yastahiqquhu (may he get what he deserves) a “dweller of Paradise”. And they ignite mischief and corruption amongst the Ummat. Instead of enlightening and enriching themselves by edifying the brilliance of his character and adopting the love and devotion of the respected grandson of the Prophet, without reflecting on their finality, they are abusing themselves and destroying their Log of Conduct (Naamah-e-A’maal) by praising and appreciating Yazeed Paleed and his dark actions. (معاذ الله Allaah may forbid!)
In their desperate effort to declare Yazeed Paleed a dweller of Paradise they present this one sacred Hadees in argument. View that sacred حديث Hadees:
Umaier Ibne Aswad Al Ansee says he came in the service of Ubaadah Bin Saamit. He arrived at his building on the shores of Hims and along with him was (his wife) Umme Haraam (Daughter of Mulhaan). Umaier says Umme Haraam retold this Hadees to him that she has heard the Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam) saying, “The first troop amongst my Ummat who are endorsed (Paradise is mandatory for them) is the one who will make holy war (Jihaad) in the Name of Allaah travelling via sea.” Umme Haraam inquired, “O, Prophet of Allaah (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaieka Wa Sallam) am I included in them?” The Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam) said, “You are amongst them.” Then the Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam) said, “The first troop among my Ummat who will attack the Caesar’s city, will be granted forgiveness.” Umme Haraam again inquired, “Yaa Rasoolal Laah, (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaieka Wa Sallam) am I included in them?” The Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam) said, “No”. (Bukhaari Shareef: 2924)
If you consider this statement from the tongue of the Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam) that brings the truth, then it will be clear that by the grace of Almighty Allaah the Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam) knows everything. Almighty Allaah has not hidden anything from him. In this statement of the Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam) has given good news of forgiveness but there are also three conditions:
- First condition: first army
- Second condition: They would journey through the sea.
- Third condition: They attack the Caesar’s city.
I do not know why this Hadees is also referred to as “ حديث قسطن طينيه Hadees of Qustunteeniyah”. This city named after the King Qustun (Constantine) is now known as Istanbul. It is a famous city of Turkey whose old name was “Qustunteeniyah” (Constantinople) commonly known “Qustuntuniyah”.
By just a little attention to this sacred Hadees present in Bukhaari Shareef two things can be clearly perceived:
(1) The name of Qustunteeniyah is not present in this Hadees. The meaning or interpretation of “ مدينة قيصر Madinata Qaiesara” (Casear’s city) is not given as Qustunteeniyah in any dictionary.
(2) There is an obligation of اول جيش the first army and if the whole Hadees is considered than there is also a condition of the journey by sea.
Any city of the Qaiesar-e-Rome (the empire of the Caesar of Rome) can be called “Madinata Qaiesar”. By the phrase “Caesar’s city”, it should be taken to mean that city where on that day the Roman Caesar was present. The day on which my beloved Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam) gave this statement. Or that city should be considered which was the capital of Qaiesar-e-Rome, which at that time was حمص Hims (Emesa).
Those who are familiar with history and biographies know very well that the first battle on the Caesar’s city occurred in the 8th Hijri. This is called the غزوه موته Battle of Muatah and this holy war took place in the era of the physical holy presence of the beloved Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam). The first battle for the Caesar’s city of Hims took place in the era of the Caliph of the Muslims (Ameerul Mu’mineen) Saiyyidinaa Umar-e-Faarooq (Allaah is well pleased with him) in 15th Hijri. The warriors of Islaam conquered it (narrated in books with the reference of the Era of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddeeq). In Bukhaari Shareef the one deserving this good news should be the first army of the Battle of Muatah or Hims. (It should be clear that till this time Yazeed Paleed was not even born. According to Wikipedia his birthdate was 11th Shawaal, 26th Hijri (20th July, 647) and the mother of Yazeed Paleed, named Maiesoon, was a non-Muslim.) (Yazeedi almiyoñ kaa pas manzar, page 18, written by Prof. Dr. Syed Muhammad Yoosuf, printed by Nazariyah Foundation publisher, Chanyot road, Faisalabad)
If it is argued to accept the Caesar’s city as Qustunteeniyah just so Yazeed Paleed can be included in this then it is still an undeniable contradictory incident as Yazeed Paleed was not at all included in the first army to attack Qustunteeniyah. And in the sacred Hadees the good news of salvation is only for the first army. Anyone familiar with history knows Qustunteeniyah was attacked four times before Yazeed Paleed. The first army mobilization to attack this city was done in the period of the Caliph of true Muslims (Ameerul Mu’mineen) Saiyyidinaa Usmaan-e-Ghani, Zin Nooraien (Allaah is well pleased with him) in the leadership of the Companion of the Prophet Hazrat Ameer Mu’aaviyah (Allaah is well pleased with him) in 32nd Hijri. (Al-Bidaayah Wan Nihaayah 179/7, Taareekh-e-Tabri 304/4, Taareekh e-Kaamil Ibne Atheer 503/2)
The second time was in 43rd Hijri, the third time in 44th Hijri and the fourth time in 46th Hijri there a battle in the Caesar’s city of Qustunteeniyah. With historical references according to Wikipedia the conquest on Qustunteeniyah was under the leadership of Abdul Laah Bin Artaat in 42nd Hijri, Busr bin Artaat in 43rd Hijri, Abdul Rahmaan Bin Khaalid Bin Al Waleed in 44th Hijri, Maalik Bin Abdul Rahmaan and Abdul Rahmaan Bin Khalid in 46th Hijri, Maalik Bin Hubaierah in 47th Hijri and Sufyaan Bin Auf in 49th Hijri.
After these historical references now see these sacred Ahaadees. Sunan Aboo Daawood is a famous book of the sacred Hadees amongst Sahaah Sittah (the six correct Books of Hadees). The tyrant Al-Baani of the modern era has also accepted the authenticity of this sacred Hadees. Aboo Imraan says, “We went for holy war (Jihaad) from Madinah Munawwarah to Qustunteeniyah the commander of the army was Abdur Rahmaan Bin Khalid Bin Al Waleed.” (It is stated such in this sacred haadees). Hazrat Aboo Aiyyoob Ansaari (Allaah is well pleased with him) who was in the troop kept fighting and was also buried in Qustunteeniyah. (Aboo Daawood: 2152)
Also in Aboo Daawood Hadees #2687 it has been stated Hazrat Aboo Aiyyoob Ansaari fought in the holy war under the leadership of Abdur Rahmaan Bin Khaalid Al Waleed. This incident is of 46th Hijri.
Musannaf Ibne Abee Shaiebah (Name of Book), Hadees #27933 it is also stated that: We did holy-war on the soil of Rome and the Companion of the Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam) Aboo Aiyyoob Ansaari was with us. And the commander was Abdur Rahmaan Bin Khalid Bin Al Waleed in the era of Ameer Mu’aaviyah. It is also stated in As Sunanul Kubraa of Baiehaqee (Book) Hadees #18060 Hazrat Aboo Aiyyoob Ansaari (Allaah is well pleased with him) fought holy-war in the leadership of Abdur Rahmaan Bin Khalid Bin Al Waleed on the land of Rome. After the battle a person namely Ibne Asaal Nasraani mixed poison in sweet-drink and gave to the commander of the troop Hazrat Abdur Rahmaan Bin Khalid by which he died. (Taareekh-e-Kaamil 227/5)
The narration of Yazeed Paleed can be found in the 49th Hijri in reference to the Battle of Qustunteeniyah. Before this he is not mentioned anywhere in reference to any battles. It is clear from the above mentioned reference of the sacred Ahaadees and history that before 49th Hijri more than three times Qustunteeniyah was attacked. And in the sacred Hadees the good news of salvation is only for the first troop.
It is mentioned in Al-Bidaayah Wan Nihaayah that in 49th Hijri Yazeed Bin Mu’aaviyah attacked the city of Rome till he reached Qustunteeniyah. It is also mentioned in the same book that in 51st Hijri Yazeed attacked Qustunteeniyah. In the same book 52nd Hijri is also mentioned. Also in this book in reference to 41st Hijri Hazrat Ameer Mu’aaviyah’s attack on Rome is mentioned. This is a fact before 49th Hijri Qustunteeniyah was attacked three to four times. And Yazeed Paleed was not present in any of the troops.
After viewing the whole description of the Hadees written in the sacred Bukhaari if anyone may consider by this that attack should be considered which was done in the holy-war after the journey by sea so the island of قبرص Qubras (Cyprus) was conquered in the 28th Hijri. Allaamah Haafiz Ibne Kaseer has mentioned the conquest of Qubras in the 33rd Hijri. It is stated in the Taareekh -e-Kaamil and Taareekh -e-Tabri (names of history books) that Qubras was conquered in the 27th Hijri. It was attended by Hazrat Ubaadah bin Saamit and his wife Umme Haraam. Umme Haraam also passed away there. If the narration of 33rd Hijri is considered correct than before this Qustunteeniyah was attacked three times before 49th Hijri and the troop in which Yazeed Paleed was present it was absolutely not the first troop.
Also view the conditions of the presence of Yazeed in the troops to Qustunteeniyah: It is stated in the authentic Taareekh Al Kaamil Ibne Aseer: “On the same year 49th Hijri and also stated in 50th Hijri towards the cities of Rome. Ameer Mu’aaviyah sent a brave army towards the cities of Rome. In this Sufyaan Bin Auf was made commander and ordered his son Yazeed to go in this war. But Yazeed kept sitting and made excuses and deceits so Ameer Mu’aaviyah did not push the matter. The people of the army were inflicted with severe hunger and sickness and Yazeed said happily, “I am not concerned that these holy warriors are afflicted by catastrophes of fever and poverty in فرقدونه Farqadoonah (name of place). While I am sitting in the دير مران Daier-e-Murraan (name of place) on a high place against a pillow with Umme Kulsoom on my side.” Umme Kulsoom Bint e Abdul Laah Bin Aamir was the wife of this Yazeed. As these verses of Yazeed reached Hazrat Ameer Mu’aaviyah he pledged, “Now I will definitely send Yazeed to Sufyaan Bin Auf on the land of Rome so he may also be afflicted with problems which are suffered by the warriors.” Therefore (unwillingly) Yazeed had to go. (56/3)
If you consider this narration then it is clearly evident the commander of this army was Sufyaan Bin Auf and if this army is considered the first one than also Yazeed was not included in it rather he was sent to the support of the first army and was sent by force in the second army. He made excuses and wiles for going in the initial army and also disobeyed his father. The exhibition of joy in the verses of Yazeed Paleed clearly marks the condition of his nature and thinking on the problems suffered by the warriors of Islaam and his verses are also offensive. He did not go in the second army happily rather Ameer Mu’aaviyah made a pledge and forcefully sent him. Holy war (Jihaad) is worshipping and what kind of worship is this without intention and sincerity?
It is stated as well that the first army also travelled by the sea and in the second army Yazeed Paleed only travelled by land. The haadees of sacred Bukhaari is absolutely correct and this is also a definite matter that the glad tiding of salvation does not categorically include Yazeed Paleed.
Those people who are mischievous in proving Yazeed Paleed as a “dweller of Paradise” by forcing proof even after so many arguments with these sacred haadees apparently do not realize what the condition of Yazeed Paleed was after attending the holy war of Qustunteeniyah with hatred. Because it is stated in sacred Ahaadees sins are forgiven after doing holy war for Allaah’s sake but there is no possibility of salvation to kill any true Muslim deliberately or to become an apostate (مرتد Murtad ) after the holy war. It is stated in the true sacred Hadees that anyone who reads Kalimah-e-Taiyyibah enters Paradise. In several Ahaadees for some special virtues there is a description of being forgiven (مغفور لهمMaghfoorul Lahum), Paradise (أوجب Aujaba) being mandatory and hell being forbidden ( حرم الله عليه النار Harramal Laahu Alaiehin Naar) on him has been mentioned. If a person after reading Kalimah-e-Taiyyibah becomes a denier of some absolute matter of Islaam or denies Salaat, Zakaat, Finality of the Prophet hood then how can he still remain worthy of the glad tiding of Paradise and forgiveness? Not at all. The special evidence will devoid him of Paradise and salvation.
View the Ahaadees about Yazeed Paleed: Hazrat Aboo Huraierah (Allaah is well pleased with him) says the Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam) said, “I seek protection from the government (empowerment) of the boys (the boys who are weak in intelligence, reasoning and religion)”. The sacred Companions of the Prophet (Allaah is well pleased with them) inquired, “How will that empowerment of the boys be?” The Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam) said, “If you will obey them than you will be (in the matter of religion) destroyed and if you do not obey them than they will kill you (in connection to world) by taking your life or your wealth or both (life and wealth).” Hazrat Aboo Huraierah (Allaah is well pleased with him) stated the Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam) said, ”Seek the protection of Almighty Allaah from the year 60th Hijri and the governance of the young boys.”
Hazrat Aboo Huraierah (Allaah is well pleased with him) would also plea (In the court of Almighty Allaah) while walking in the market. “O Allaah, do not give me 60th Hijri and the governance of the young boys.” (Meaning give me death before it). After quoting this Hadees in Fathul-Baari the summary of Bukhaari Allaamah Haafiz Asqalaani writes: “There is an indication in this Hadees that the first boy among these youngsters will be in 60th Hijri and it did happen as so because Yazeed Bin Mu’aaviyah came to power in 60th Hijri and remained until 64th Hijri and then died.” Allaamah Asqalaani writes, “The first boy among these youth is surely Yazeed like the saying of Hazrat Aboo Huraierah, 60th Hijri being the year of the empowerment of the boys. Further evidence to this comes because Yazeed had mostly removed the elderly people from the governance of the big cities and had appointed his fellow boys on high positions.” The same thing is written in the summary of the sacred Bukhaari “Umdatul Qaari” by Hazrat Allaamah Badrud-deen Aienee.
Hazrat Aboo Sa’eed Khudree (Allaah is well pleased with him) says he has heard from the Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam), “Those malicious will be after the 60th Hijri who will discard Salaat and will follow their (lustful) desires, they will soon be put in Ghaiey (a valley of Hell).”
Hazrat Aboo Zar (Allaah is well pleased with him) says, ‘I have heard the Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam) saying, “The first person who will make changes in my Sunnat will be from بنى اميه Bani Umaiyyah.”’
Hazrat Aboo Dardaa’a (Allaah is well pleased with him) says I have heard from the Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam), “The first person who will change my Sunnat will be from Bani Umaiyyah, he will be called Yazeed.”
Hazrat Aboo Ubaiedah (Allaah is well pleased with him) says the beloved Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam) said, “The control of my Ummat (Nation) will remain with justice until the time of that first person who will destroy it who will be from Bani Umaiyyah and he will be called Yazeed.”
In the 60th Hijri Hazrat Ameer Mu’aaviyah passed away and Yazeed sat on the throne. In the 61st Hijri the incident of Karbalaa took place and with the orders of Yazeed Paleed the respected people of the family of the Prophet were massacred hungry and thirsty. With the brutal martyring of the grandson of the Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam) his sacred body was trampled under the hooves of horses. The tents of the daughters of the Prophet were burned. Their jewellery etc. was snatched and even their chaadar (large cloth cover used as a veil) were stripped off. And they were disrespected by parading them around the streets and markets openly, as were the heads of the Martyrs which were placed on top of spears and taken around the streets.
In the 63rd Hijri, Madinah Munawwarah was attacked by the orders of Yazeed Paleed. More than seven hundred Companions of the Prophet and their children, ten thousand elderly and small residents of Madinah were murdered in the incident of Hurrah. By the orders of Yazeed Paleed for three days Madinah Munawwarah was declared permissible for the army of Yazeed. The homes of the pious women living in the neighbourhood of the Prophet of Allaah (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam) were invaded and they were violently raped, horses were tied inside Masjid-e-Nabvi where they urinated and defecated within the Masjid. Then with his orders Makkah Mukarramah was attacked and Baietul-Laah was stoned, the Cover of Ka’bah was burnt and some of the محرمات Muharramaat (some unlawful thing were declared allowed) were considered Halaal.
It is the statement of the children of the companions of the Prophet that witnessing the vulgarity of Yazeed we feared that stones may fall from the sky. Those verses and saying of Yazeed Paleed are also available on the pages of history that he had taken revenge in Karbalaa for his people who were killed in the Battle of Badr. And also this that the Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam) did not get Prophethood (Allaah may forbid). The son of Hazrat Saiyyidinaa Imaam Ahmad bin Hańmbal (Allaah is well pleased with him) asked about Yazeed Paleed so the Imaam replied, “Son, will there be anyone who believes in Almighty Allaah and who will keep friendship with Yazeed? And why should I not curse him who has been cursed by Almighty Allaah in his book?” The son said, ‘Where in the book of Almighty Allaah (Qur’aan) (meaning in which verse) Yazeed has been cursed?” So Imaam Hańmbal read these Qur’aanic verses, “So if you get the authority you would spread disorder in the land and sever your ties of relationship and these are those whom Allaah has cursed and made them deaf to the truth and made their eyes blind.”(Chapter # 47(Muhammad) verses# 22 and #23)
Imaam Ahmad said, ‘Can there be any greater violence than the massacre of Saiyyidinaa Husaien (the Grandson of the Prophet)?”
Sacred Ahaadees are present in Saheeh Muslim Shareef describing the most severe wrath and curse on scaring the people of Madinah with the intention of evil. Allaamah Muhaddis Ibne Jauzee has compiled a whole book in condemnation and curse on Yazeed“الرد على المتعصب العنيد المانع من ذم يزيد Al Raddu Alal Muta’assibil Aneedil Maani’e Min Zammi Yazeed.” On the details on this topic in Urdu, a very good book of my respected father Reviver of the true Sunni Path, Khateeb A’zam Hazrat Maulana Muhammad Shafee Okarvi (Allaah have mercy on him), “Imaam Paak Aur Yazeed Paleed” can be read.
Amongst the Taabi’een (the successors of the companions of the Prophet Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam) the Caliph of the Muslims Hazrat Umar Bin Abdul Azeez (Allaah is well pleased with him) has a high status. In front of him someone called Yazeed Paleed “Ameerul-Mu’mineen ”. Hazrat Umar Bin Abdul Azeez was furious and ordered 20 lashes to be whipped on that person. Even after knowing all the facts if the supporters of Yazeed Paleed are still stubborn enough to keep calling him a “Dweller of Paradise” then they should pray for their finale to be with Yazeed Paleed on the day of Judgment because this sacred hadees is also present in Bukhaari that you will be with the one for whom you possess love on the day of Judgment.
